Mt. Olive Child Care & Learning Center
Teen Mentor Opportunity

Are you interested in making a difference in a young person's life? Would you like to participate in our mentor training program and then have the opportunity to work with a Middle School or Elementary School student enrolled in our After School Program?

Mt. Olive Child Care & Learning Center, a non-profit, charitable organization which has been providing child care and family support services in the community since 1976, is seeking interested students who are looking for a chance to do some meaningful community service.

What is involved?
1. Completing an application by calling us as 973-426-1525.
2. Being interviewed.
3. Participating in the 12-hour mentor training program, which will be held right at the Mt. Olive Middle School from 3:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. on 4 dates in early December: 12/1/09, 12/3/09, 12/8/09, and 12/10/09.
4. Being matched with a mentee/student.
5. Making the commitment to mentor 1-2 hours per week, as of mid-January through the end of the school year.

Program Coordinators/Instructors

The Recreation Department is looking for Program Coordinators/Instructors! Earn extra money while providing programming for the residents of Mt. Olive! We need instructors/program coordinators for: Arts
Crafts, Dancing, Drama, Golf, Gymnastics, Martial Arts, Music, New Programs/New Ideas, Preschool Activities, Sewing or Knitting.

The program you help us provide will be advertised by the Recreation Department, and we will handle all registrations and help you find a location to run it in. We will then provide you with a roster and will include you in our insurance policy to protect you and your program. Your responsibility will include setting up and running the class in its entirety.

Compensation for your time will include a share of the fees received between the town and the instructor or we can pay you hourly if you prefer. We would love to hear about your ideas for new programs for either children or adults.

Please submit your ideas for winter activities before November 9th, ideas for Spring activities before February 22nd, and Summer ideas before May 16th.

Domestic Violence Crisis Response Team

The Mt. Olive Police Department is looking for volunteers to help staff the Crisis Response Team.  After completion of a 40-hour training schedule (evenings and Saturdays) provided through Jersey Battered Women’s Service, volunteers respond to police headquarters after an incident of domestic violence to provide resources to victims.  Volunteers remain anonymous and specify available times to be “on call” to assist victims.

Pride Committee

We’re looking for a few good members!! If you have pride in your community and were wondering how to keep Mount Olive Beautiful come join the Pride Committee!!

Our meetings are the fourth Wednesday of every month, except June and July, at 7PM, in the Municipal Building Cafeteria. The Mount Olive Pride Committee was formed approximately 11 years ago, to help with the beautification of Mount Olive Township.

Peak Mentors and Coaches Volunteering Opportunities

PEAK is a group of parents coming together to give children with differences an equal opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of activities - from sports to the arts and everything in between. We are developing quality programs for our children and need the help of the community to continue to succeed.

PEAK, in cooperation with Pathways, is looking for coaches and instructors who are interested in teaching various sports skills to our children and students who would like to participate in our programs to serve as peer mentors. Pathways is offering us the opportunity to grow our programs using their model for success.
