Whether photography is your passion, your hobby,
or just an occasional pastime, we invite you to
participate in our photo contest, celebrating
what makes
Mt. Olive a Great Place to Live
Winning photos
will be displayed on Facebook.
Printed and mounted
photos supplied by the entrant(s) will be displayed
at the municipal building. Both amateur and professional
photographers are welcome to participate. Photos
should be in digital format for judging, and if
you want your photo displayed at the Municipal
Building, printed; see contest rules for details.
Printed and mounted winning photos will be given
to the sponsoring businesses.

Eligibility
To enter, you must live, work or play
in the greater Mount Olive area.
Categories for entrants:
Under 18 years old
Amateur
Adult
Exempt from prizes: Mt. Olive Township
employees, appointees, elected officials; prize sponsors'
families, employees and the panel of judges, their
families or employees. May receive Honorable Mention,
and have submissions posted on-line, etc.
All photos must be in color and taken in Mt. Olive
within the last two years.
The photo subject must be relevant

Photo Formats
Entries should be submitted as a digital image,
emailed to recdept@mtolivetwp.org. . Black and white
images are not eligible. Please read the specific
guidelines for submitting
digital photos.
Photographer/Copyright
Entries must be submitted by the original
photographer. Do not submit a photo taken by someone
other than yourself. You must be the sole owner of the
copyright of any image submitted. Your submission of
the photo and entry email is your guarantee that you
are the author and copyright holder of the photo.
Number
of Entries
An individual may submit
up to 5 photos
Photo Subject Restrictions
Photos must be appropriate for posting on a public government
website. Obscene, provocative or otherwise questionable
content will not be considered. Mt. Olive Township retains
sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content.
Entries with photos containing recognizable people must
be accompanied by a signed artist release form.
Return
of Photos
Photos, regardless of the medium, will
not be returned. Please do not send your only copy of
a photo.
Ownership/Use
Rights
Photographers retain the copyright to
their photographs. By entering the contest, photographers
agree to have their submitted photograph(s) displayed
on the mountolivetownship.com website without any fee
or other form of compensation, and agree that Mount Olive
Township may display photos in an electronic photo gallery,
display any printed submissions at the municipal building
and may make
and retain copies of the photograph(s) for future Mt.
Olive Recreation Department use. Posted photos will be
subject to the mountolivetownship.com photo use policy.
Photos will be credited to the photographer named in the
entry form. Entries (including non-winning entries) may
be selected for display or use in other Mount Olive government
web pages. Entries become the property of Mount Olive
Recreation. In the event that ownership of any photograph
submitted to Mount Olive Recreation is contested in any
manner, Mount Olive Recreation retains the discretion
to disqualify that photograph and discontinue use of the
photograph.
How to Enter
Digital photos should be submitted
by email.
In the subject line, please write
"Spring/Summer Photo Contest".
In the text of the e-mail include:

3.0 mb in size.

Monday, MArch 1, at 11:59 p.m. EST.
Photos may also be submitted by disc,
and mailed to Mt. Olive Recreation, P.O. Box 450,
Budd Lake, NJ 07828. Include the information listed
above regarding Photographer, Category, and Description.
If more than one submission is on the disc, clearly
indicate which information goes with each photo.

Lake, NJ 07828. Include the information listed above
regarding Photographer, Category, and Description. If
more than one submission is on the disc, clearly indicate
which information goes with each photo.
Print Photos
In addition to the email submission,
if you are submitting a printed, mounted photo (no more
than 8 ½" x 11" in size) for display
in the Municipal Building, write on the back of it the
photographer's name, phone number and email address,
so can match it up with your emailed information.
Judging
Entries will be judged on the basis
of creativity, photographic quality, and effectiveness
in conveying the beauty and/or unique character of Mount
Olive Township in one of the contest subjects. A Mt.
Olive Recreation panel will judge the entries and all
contest decisions are final. Entries that fail to comply
with the Official Contest Rules will be disqualified.
The Mt. Olive Recreation panel will include professionals
from the fields of photographic art, graphic design,
website design, website development, marketing and public
relations.
Winners
Judges will select a First Place (best
over-all), Best and Runner-up winning photo for each
of the contest categories (Photographer categories).
If fewer than ten eligible photographs are entered in
a category, Mt. Olive Recreation may choose to name
only a first place winner, or may cancel that category.
In addition, one or more honorable mention winners may
be selected in categories with especially large numbers
of entries, at the discretion of the judging panel.
Winners will be notified approximately 2-3 weeks after
the contest deadline by phone and email using the information
in the email submission. Winning photographs, along
with the photographer's name, email address (optional)
and information about the photo, will be displayed on
the mountolivetownship.com website for 6 weeks after
the contest.
Submitting
Digital Images
Digital images should be submitted as
an attachment to your submission email.. Panoramic photos
are not eligible.
Images should be submitted in JPG (at high quality) or
TIFF format.
File sizes must be no more than 3.0 Mb per image.
Images must be in natural color. Black and white, sepia
tone, and duotone images are not eligible. Digital images
will not be returned.
Image Modifications:
Minor digital enhancement is permitted,
but images that have been significantly modified or
appear unnatural will be disqualified.
Not Permitted:
No borders or frames may be added
to images.
No watermarks, signatures, or copyright
notices may be added to images. All winning images
will be displayed with the photographer's name.
Adding or replacing elements in
an image is not permitted.
Artistic filters are not permitted.
Permitted Modifications:
Images may be cropped and rotated
as necessary as long as the rectangular format is
maintained and the size is within the specifications
above.
Images may be resized as long as the aspect ratio
is maintained
Red-eye removal and spot editing
One-step enhancement
(such as "AutoFix", "QuickFix",
"Auto Levels", etc.)
Use of filters to sharpen,
soften, blur, despeckle, or remove noise.
Use of corrective functions
to improve the natural appearance of the image,
such as levels, contrast, brightness, curves, intensity,
tone, hue, saturation, lightness, value, color balance,
and tint.
Additional
Terms and Conditions
Mt. Olive Recreation is not responsible
for computer system, hardware, software, or program
malfunctions or other errors, failures, or delayed
computer transactions or network connections that
are human or technical in nature. Furthermore, Mt.
Olive Recreation is not responsible for: (i) lost,
misdirected, misplaced, illegible, unintelligible,
incomplete, or late entries or (ii) any act, failure
to act, or delay regarding the transmitting or processing
of entries. Mt. Olive Recreation reserves the right,
in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend all or
any portion of this contest without notice if factors
beyond Mt. Olive
Recreation 's control, including technical difficulties,
disrupt or corrupt the fair or secure administration
or operation of the contest.
Void where prohibited.
Mt. Olive Recreation is entitled to interpret these
rules as needed and its decisions are final. Mt. Olive
Recreation reserves the right to disqualify any entrant
that Mt. Olive Recreation has reason to believe is
not the original work of entrant, or does not otherwise
meet the contest rules. If a winner is disqualified
or determined to be ineligible, an alternate winner
will be selected using the same judging process/criteria
described above. Alternate winners are subject to
all requirements set forth in these Official Rules.
By participating in the contest, you agree to release
and hold harmless Mt. Olive Township Recreation and
its employees, officers, affiliates, agents, and advertising
and promotional agencies from any and all damages,
injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of
any kind resulting from your participation in this
contest, including infringement of intellectual property
rights. Mt. Olive Recreation and its employees, officers,
affiliates, agents, and advertising and promotional
agencies assume no responsibility or liability for
any damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions,
or losses of any kind arising in whole or in part
from this contest.
Mt. Olive
Recreation Photo Use Policy
Photos displayed on the mountolivetownship.com website
are copyrighted by the photographer.
Permission to use the photographs is granted to the
public for the following limited uses:
1. Photos may be printed from a web
browser for personal, non-commercial uses.
2. Photos may be downloaded/copied electronically
from a web browser for personal, non-commercial uses,
with the following limitations:
3. Photos may not be altered in any way, including
resizing or cropping.
4. Photo credits must be provided.
5. Credit should be given as follows: "Photograph
by [photographer's name]. Used by permission from
www.mountolivetownship.com."
Photos may not be sold or used in
any way for profit or commercial purposes, including
use in commercial or professional websites or printed
materials. Photos may not be used to suggest endorsement
by the Township of Mount Olive for a product or service.
Requests for alternate formats or additional uses/rights
should be sent to the photographer using the email
link provided next to each photo on the Winners Page.
Mt. Olive Recreation reserves the right to deny such
requests at its discretion. Some requests may be subject
to a fee for graphic design services from the photographer.
