Mount Olive Township Road and Sanitation
NEW CLOTHING RECYCLING BIN AT THE RECYCLING CENTER
Mt. Olive is partnering with Millennium International Textiles, to recycle your clothing, shoes and accessories. Millennium is a local business in Flanders that recycles clothing and accessories, and distributes them to Third World Countries such as Tanzania, East Africa and Guatemala, Central America. The bin is light green in color, and has the logo “Re-Use America” placed on the front of the bin. They are accepting:
- All clothing
- Shoes (preferably no skates)
- Accessories: belts, hats, soft caps, baseball hats, wallets
- Soft Luggage: school bags, backpacks, soft travel bags, children’s bags
- Soft toys: stuffed animals
- Hard toys: dolls, cars, etc…
(No furniture or large items please)
Household Hazardous Materials accepted on Tuesdays at the MCMUA
The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MCMUA) has expanded its hours at its Mount Olive Facility to include Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to Noon.
All appointments must be scheduled in advance by calling 973-285-8394.
Adopt-A-Spot
To Adopt-A-Spot in Mt. Olive Township , the applicant must fill out the form letter on this site and return it to Mt. Olive Township Public Works Department, Adopt-A-Spot Program PO Box 450 Budd Lake N.J. 07828, or e-mail to lreinschimdt@mtolivetwp.org. The area to be adopted will be inspected by Public Works prior to approval, upon approval a designation sign will be installed with the applicants requested Adopt-A-Spot title.�
Grass cuttings
The Recycling center will accept grass cuttings at the recycling center on Saturdays only from 8:00 am until 2:30 pm , during May through the 1rst of October.
Grass cuttings must be in a retrievable container or brown paper grass bags. (Plastic bags will not be accepted.) NO BRUSH OR LEAVES WILL BE ACCEPTED. For township residents ONLY, no contractors will be permitted.
Annual Clean Up for residential property owners
Large item cleanup will begin on April 26th through the 30th. Three large items will be picked up on your regular scheduled solid waste pickup day during this week. See town calendar for more details.
The sanitation telephone extension needs the 7 placed in front of the number (7361).
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
• Place ACCEPTABLE household item curb side by 5:00 a.m. on your scheduled pick up day. (Do not place item out more than one day prior to collection.)
• If we are unable to collect this material on the day scheduled due to weather or equipment problems, we will pick them up the following day. There is no need to call our office.
• Review the following list of acceptable items to determine eligibility for pick-up.
We are very pleased that we are able to continue to offer this valued service to our residents. In our efforts to improve all municipal services, we would be happy to take your comments and suggestions about this years change in pick-up procedures, along with any other suggestions you would like to offer. All furniture (such as): sofa, loveseat, kitchen table and miscellaneous small pieces. Mattresses/box springs, carpet (cut and tied), small toys bagged or large toys, metal sheds (cut and tied), barbeque grills, disassembled swing sets, and/or metal railings.

*Washers, dryers, stoves, hot water heaters,
Dishwashers, riding mowers, lawn mowers.

Explosives, radioactive materials, all appliances and metal goods such as refrigerators, freezers, air

Department Functions:

proper signage and drainage.
- Snow removal and ice control in winter for the safety
of the traveling public.

Bulky Waste Collection - FEE SCHEDULE (PDF file)
This division is responsible for the pick-up of solid
waste, large items, leaves, brush and recycling. For information
on recycling call (973)691-0900, extension 7361. The Sanitation

- Curbside collection of solid waste is done each day
in different sections of the Township. Three 35 gallon
containers are allowed per household.
- Curbside collection of recyclable material is done
on the same day as your solid waste collection. Recyclable
items include newspaper, chipboard, corrugated, glass,
aluminum, plastic, steel/tin, batteries, magazines,
used motor oil, oil filters and anti-freeze.
Water-based (latex) paint cans that are dried out can
be placed
with the regular garbage as long as the lids are off
of the cans.
- The Township has a sticker program for items too large
to be placed in a standard size trash can. These items
requires a sticker to be picked up. Large item stickers
are $15.00 or $10.00. Small item stickers are $5.00.
Tires or extra garbage bags stickers are $2.00. Stickers
for the removal of large and small household items can
be purchased from the receptionist at the new town hall.
Grass and leaf bags are also available. Please call

- Clean Communities Program
- Residents may bring their recyclables to the recycling
center located on Wolfe Road at the rear of the municipal
building. Recycling center is open Monday thru Thur
Friday 8:00am to Noon & Saturday 8:00am to
3:00pm.
All grass and leaves must be in paper bags as approved by the
Township. Plastic bags will no longer be accepted for
any of these items. Grass pickup will begin May 4. Grass
must be in approved paper bags. Brush is to be cut into
sections no longer than 4 feet and tied into manageable
bundles. Brush, leaves and grass are to be put out
on the curbside. Pick up schedules are as follow:
Grass Clippings: May 4 through October 1
Leaves: March 15 through May 30 and October
1 through December 15
Brush: March to May & October to Mid December
Residents will be allowed to dispose of newspaper, magazines and chipboard together, either in brown paper bags or tied and bundled for curbside pickup. Corrugated cardboard will remain a separated.
